Country Comes To Town

Another great day out for the club call and members both old and new, with good weather and alot of great contacts made [as conditions on HF where very good].

Again many thanks to all who participated in making the weekend event at Dungannon Vintage Club working Rally a great success, from the BBQ on the Friday night to the radio setup on Saturday and packup on Sunday evening, not forgetting all the great crack in between.

The Ulster Military Vehicle Club's www.umvc.org 'Return to the Past' Event Loughbrickland on the 21st and 22nd June 2008

The members of the Mid-Ulster Amateur Radio Club would like to thank Mr Bill Montgomery and the members of The Ulster Miliitary Vehicle Club for their hospitality which was enjoyed by all the club members who participated, many contacts were made -Jordon being the furthest -This event was supported by Banbridge Council.

Another Great Field Day at the Drumcree Vintage Vehicle and Garden Fete on the 7th June 2008

The antennas which were in use Comet 250 b,2/70cms vertical and Ground Wave 80m vertical

Lots of good contacts were made from the local SOTA which were in the Mourne Mountains on 2 meters to Minsk,Odessa and Chiang Mai in Thailand on HF.

The MUARC Stand where our members completed a link-up between the flight leader and the main arena, Over the weekend many contacts were made mainly into Europe and Asia the furthest contact from South of India and the Maldives a very successful Field Event

Funding Presentation by Raynet Ireland

A funding presentation was given by Joe McGuinness and John Robinson to the PLACE Resource Centre for Equipment to be used in Emergency Communications by Raynet Ireland

Construction Nights on 20th & 27th March
The first of the MUARC construction nights took place at Ardress Park Portadown, a lot of interest was shown on Circuit Layout, IC,s and component selection for the project which is a Radio to Computer interface for RTTY,SSTV,PSK31,FAX and Echolink.

Presentation of Trophy and Shield

The Treasurer Davy Mi3IRZ receiving the Les.Lyske Challenge Trophy from Vice Chairman Jim GI0OND and Vice Treasurer Betty Mi3LXJ for the promotion of club activities and successful funding applications over the last year.

The Stanley Eakins Memorial Sheild was awarded to Chris MI1EQI for the successful running of the Foundation and Intermediate courses and service to Amateur Radio throughout the last year.
